코끼리 아저씨는 오늘도 씁쓸하고 쓸쓸합니다.
거울 속, 작은 과자 하나 집을 수 없는 두껍고 펑퍼짐한 손.
‘왜 나는 이렇게 태어났을까’ 아무리 자책해봐도 달라지는 것은 없었습니다.
그러던 어느 날, 코끼리 아저씨는 깜짝 놀랐습니다.
우연히 마주친 기린에게서
“나도 너처럼 유연하고 긴 코가 있으면 얼마나 좋을까?”
라는 말을 들었기 때문입니다.
‘저렇게 우아한 목을 가졌는데도 내 코가 갖고 싶다니..?’
고소공포증이 있었던 기린은 짧은 목에 긴 코가 있는 코끼리가 부럽다며
다시 태어나면 코끼리로 태어나고 싶을 정도라고 했습니다.
그날 저녁, 코끼리 아저씨는 거울 속에서 처음으로
못난 손이 아닌, 기다랗게 빛나는 코를 봤습니다.

다음 날 코끼리 아저씨는 아침 일찍 일어나 마트로 향했습니다.
그 긴 코로 높은 매대에 있는 과자를 잔뜩 집으며 흥얼거렸습니다.
‘코가 가요 코가 가 새우x에 코가 가요🎵’
