제이슨류닷넷 오리지널 굿즈의 두 번째 컬렉션은 애스턴 마틴 DB5 일러스트 상품입니다.

애스턴 마틴 DB5는 제가 좋아하는 클래식 카 가운데 하나입니다. 이탈리아 카로체리아인 투링 슈퍼레제라(Touring Superleggera)가 만든 스페이스프레임 구조와 아름다운 차체가 매력 있기도 하지만, 007 영화 시리즈에 등장해 재미있는 비밀무기를 선보이며 활약한 모습이 멋있었기 때문이기도 합니다. 그렇습니다. 저는 007 시리즈 영화의 오랜 팬이기도 하거든요.

1913년에 설립된 애스턴 마틴은 초기 잠깐동안을 빼고는 내도록 어려움을 겪다가 1947년에 영국 사업가 데이비드 브라운이 인수하면서 새로운 도약을 꿈꾸는데요. 브라운 시절에 개발된 모델들은 브라운의 이름과 성의 첫 글자인 DB를 앞에 쓰고 그 뒤에 숫자를 붙이는 식으로 이름을 지었습니다. 1963년에 첫선을 보인 DB5는 시리즈 여섯 번째 모델이고요. 여섯 번째가 된 이유는 중간에 DB2를 바탕으로 만든 DB2/4가 끼어있기 때문입니다.

애스턴 마틴 DB5가 007 시리즈 영화에 처음 등장한 것은 시리즈 세 번째로 만들어져 1964년에 공개된(우리나라에는 3년 가까이 지난 1967년에 개봉했다고 하네요) ‘골드핑거(Goldfinger)’입니다.

원작인 이언 플레밍의 소설 버전에서는 애스턴 마틴 DB3이 나왔지만, 영화에서는 당시 최신 모델이었던 DB5가 나왔죠. 당시 어려움을 겪고 있던 애스턴 마틴이 영화의 성공 덕분에 DB5가 인기를 얻어 한숨 돌릴 수 있게 됐다는 이야기는 잘 알려져 있고, 영화 역사상 가장 성공적인 PPL 중 하나로 평가받고 있습니다.

이번 일러스트 역시 영화 ‘골드핑거’에 등장한 DB5의 모습을 제 스타일로 그린 것입니다. 앞 범퍼에 달린 번호판의 ‘BMT 216A’ 표시와 좌우가 둥글게 처리된 번호판 패널이 영화 속 차를 재현한 것이고요.

재미를 위해서라면 타이어 파괴장치나 헤드램프 뒤에 감춰진 기관총 같은 기믹들도 표현했어야 맞겠지만, 그보다는 원형에 가까운 깔끔한 모습이 더 좋거든요. 순전히 제 취향입니다. 사실 그리면서 차에 (영화에서는 숀 코너리가 배역을 맡았던)제임스 본드가 타고 있는 모습을 넣기도 했는데, 그것도 뺐습니다. 007 영화와 관계없이 애스턴 마틴 DB5를 좋아하는 모든 분이 즐기실 수 있도록 말이죠.

All the goods are newly manufactured in custom order and delivered.
If you order now, the manufacturing process begins on 2/11, and the goods are to be shipped out before 2/23.
