남신의 격해진 감정으로 인해 준나라에 내려앉은 석양의 색깔 또한 요동치기 시작했습니다.
쿠옌두라는 말을 이었습니다.
“사랑하는 이들은 떠났지만 기억은 아직 우리에게 남아있지 않은가.”
“기억을 원하는 게 아닙니다!”
석양의 남신이 외쳤습니다.
“저는... 기억을 원하는 게 아닙니다... 그저 그 사람과 살아가고 싶었을 뿐입니다.”
눈물을 흘리는 그를 보며 쿠옌두라는 고개를 끄덕였습니다.
“그러나, 이미 이별은 이루어졌다.”
쿠옌두라의 강한 목소리에 놀란 남신이 쿠옌두라를 바라보았습니다.
“그대가 정 푸야랑을 잊지 못하겠다면 수만 년의 시간 동안 그대를 잠들도록 해주겠다. 길고 긴 꿈을 꾸는 사이에 그대의 기억도 흐려질 것이다. 그러나 정말로 그것을 원하는가?”
남신의 눈동자가 흔들렸습니다.
쿠옌두라가 그에게 손을 내밀었습니다. 남신은 망설였습니다. 사랑하는 이를 잊고 평화로이 살아갈 것인가, 사랑하는 이를 떠나보낸 후에도 수많은 기억들을 가지고 고통 속에 살아갈 것인가...
석양의 남신이 선택했습니다.
“저는 그 사람을 잊고 싶지 않습니다.”
“그렇다면 고통스럽지만 사랑스러운 너의 기억들을 가지고 신들의 세상으로 돌아가거라.”
바람이 불어왔습니다. 그 날, 길고 길었던 석양의 날들이 마침내 끝이 나고 밤이 찾아왔습니다.
