그들은 각자 목적지가 있었고, 나는 그들 사이를 통과하는 그림자처럼 앉아 있었다.
여행은 어쩌면 도착보다 통과의 기술인지도 모른다.
한 도시를 지나듯, 한 마음을 지나가고, 결국엔 나 자신도 스쳐 지나간다.
조금 쓸쓸하지만, 견딜 만했다.
책갈피 사이에 오래된 영수증이 끼어 있었다.
지난 계절의 내가 남겨둔 얇은 증거.
그때의 나는 어디로 가고 있었을까.
대답은 없었지만, 페이지는 묵묵히 다음을 내밀었다.
문장이 발자국처럼 이어지고, 그 사이로 바람 같은 침묵이 드나들었다.
문득 생각했다.
좋은 여행은 길을 바꾸고, 좋은 책은 나를 바꾼다.
둘 중 하나라도 시작하면 나머지는 알아서 따라온다.
그러니 오늘은 목적지를 정하지 말고, 표지 하나를 고르는 걸로 충분할지도.
다음 장에서 계속될 여행이 이미 기다리고 있으니까.
