This work reinterprets the traditional talisman Gaeunbu through the form of Munjado, a Korean art style that blends calligraphy and imagery.
It visually embodies the energy of inviting fortune and opening luck.
The magpie, a harbinger of joyful news, and the tiger, a guardian that wards off misfortune and protects blessings,
are traditional symbols drawn from minhwa (folk painting), reinforcing the original meaning of Gaeunbu.
The repeated circular motifs depict a seven-clawed dragon clutching a yeouiju (wish-fulfilling jewel),
symbolizing a noble being that governs destiny and fulfills desires with auspicious energy.
Through the unique aesthetics and symbolism of Munjado,
this piece becomes a visual prayer—blending the spirit of tradition with a contemporary sensibility.
It is a rectangle poster made of fabric. When covering unused areas or adding interior decor to walls, it is helpful. It features a string ring that makes it simple to fasten to the wall.
