1994년에 도입된 1차분 9개 편성과 2차분 17개 편성의 직류 전용 차량 26개 편성의 교체분으로, 우진산전 증평공장에서 제작되었다.
본래 직류 전용 차량으로 도입될 예정이었으나, 2021년 초에 직교류 겸용 차량으로 변경하려는 시도가 있었다. 하지만 2021년 12월에 최종적으로 직류 전용으로 발주하기로 확정돼 진접 ↔ 남태령 구간만 운행할 예정이다. 또한 5, 7호선 신형 전동차와 8호선 별내 연장분 전동차처럼 PMSM과 CBM(상태기반 유지보수 시스템)을 적용한다고 한다. 직교류 겸용으로 교체되는 것으로 결정되었다면 PMSM은 적용하지 못했을 것이다. 교직겸용차의 경우 기술적으로는 직류 전용 전동차에 AC-DC 컨버터와 절연 장치 등을 추가로 달아놓은 형식이라 가능하지만, 실제 국내 영업용 차량 적용 사례는 없다.

Notice
- White areas without backgrounds won't be printed due to material characteristics.
- This paper product is highly sensitive to temperature and humidity, so it may be torn easily. It may be bent when kept for a long period of time. The product cannot be exchanged or returned for this reason.
- Colors may look somewhat different depending on your monitor specification.

All the goods are newly manufactured in custom order and delivered.
If you order now, the manufacturing process begins on 5/28, and the goods are to be shipped out before 6/4.
